An Internal Odyssey

This series began through a deep longing for meaning during a period of uncertainty about the life I had lived, was living, and wanted to live. I found myself drawn towards the natural world, where the search for meaning gradually became less important than the connection I was forming with the environment itself. Nature offered a sense of solace that I had not found elsewhere, and became a necessary escape from the increasingly digital world around me.

Influenced by Stoic philosophy and the Romantic tradition, the work considers nature as a space for solitude, contemplation and an encounter with something greater than the self. The series consists of self-portraits made within the natural world, using my body and presence within these environments to construct a visual narrative of this journey. Each image gives form to the emotions and questions that accompany a search for meaning, exploring solitude, uncertainty, melancholy, mortality and transcendence.
